Rooted at CBU, Leading in Wellness:

Brendon Ferguson’s Ping Pong Possibility and the Rise of Wellnify.ai

Brendon Ferguson, class of 2008 and former CBU Students’ Union Executive, is Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Wellnify.ai, redefining how organizations and individuals approach health and wellness. His Halifax-based company uses technology to make well-being both accessible and enjoyable, gamifying the experience to inspire meaningful participation. Through its user-friendly, co-branded mobile platform, Wellnify.ai helps organizations encourage physical activity, support mental health, and promote healthy lifestyles in ways that are interactive, engaging, and easy to integrate into daily life.

Brendon’s journey to co-founding Wellnify.ai was shaped by an earlier chapter in Nova Scotia’s tech scene. As Chief Operating Officer of Kinduct, a Halifax company whose athlete management system was used by more than half of all professional sports teams in North America, including iconic organizations like the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Dodgers, Dallas Mavericks, and Montreal Canadiens, Brendon played a key role in building one of the province’s biggest tech success stories. When Kinduct was acquired by a Silicon Valley–based company in 2020, it stood as one of Nova Scotia’s largest ever technology exits. After that milestone, Brendon and his long-time collaborator Travis McDonough set their sights on a new venture: Wellnify.ai.Held in one of Jeddah’s vibrant community venues, this year’s gathering brought together graduates from a range of academic backgrounds and professional paths. What united them all was a shared love for a university that helped shape their futures.

That vision has since attracted the attention of some of the biggest names in sports. Wellnify’s roster of investors includes NHL stars Connor McDavid and Mitch Marner, NBA standout Jayson Tatum, and WNBA player Haley Jones, an athlete connection that highlights the company’s credibility and appeal at the highest levels of performance and wellness.

Brendon’s entry into the wellness industry is also rooted in the business knowledge he honed during his time at CBU. While completing his degree, he developed the critical skills to navigate the business world, think strategically, and turn innovative ideas into successful ventures. These skills have proven invaluable in launching and scaling Wellnify.ai, and they continue to guide his leadership as the company grows its reach.

Wellnify.ai’s platform resonates with users by transforming wellness from a checklist into an experience, whether through friendly competition in fitness tracking, accessible mental health resources, or everyday lifestyle challenges. The result is a digital wellness culture that organizations can embed into their communities with ease.

Brendon’s commitment to health and community extends beyond his company. Recently, he made a personal donation to CBU to purchase a ping pong table for the new medical campus. His goal is to encourage wellness and create opportunities for connection and stress relief among CBU’s future doctors.

“Wellness isn’t just about exercise or nutrition—it’s about connection, fun, and balance,” Brendon said. “If a simple game of ping pong can help medical students recharge and support each other, that’s a win for everyone.”

As Wellnify.ai continues to grow, Brendon remains dedicated to innovation and to helping communities thrive, whether through cutting-edge technology or the simple joy of a shared game. His work is reshaping how organizations approach well-being, and his roots at CBU remain a driving force in his vision.
