Message from the President

When we launched our strategic plan in 2018, no one could have predicted or believed that in year two, we would be forced to pivot our focus to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the enormous amount of effort this response required from the entire campus community, Cape Breton University contributed significantly to its five strategic directions: Invest in Our Students, Champion the Island’s Prosperity, Indigenize the L’nu Way, Globalize with a Difference and Empower Faculty and Staff.

The stories that follow will showcase and highlight some of our most significant milestones and achievements completed in year two of our strategic plan. You will also read about CBU’s response to COVID-19. As you will see, much of that response ironically follows our strategic directions and contributes greatly to our outcomes.

It is this outstanding response and the continued hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff that will carry us through the pandemic and set our direction and course through these next three years of our strategic plan and beyond. Our ability to respond, shift and adapt to challenge and change will enable us to succeed. Yours very truly,

David C. Dingwall President & Vice-Chancellor
